Collaborators

The collaborator tool was created to facilitate team management within an account, allowing different people to access and operate according to specific roles and permissions. With it, you can delegate tasks, control access, and ensure operational security without needing to share passwords or credentials for your application.

Each invited person will create their own account and password, ensuring individualized and secure access.

This functionality is intended for online store owners and developers who have a single application or none yet and do not use shared credentials.

Collaborators with permission can invite others to the team. To do this, go to the Manage collaborators page and click Invite collaborator.

Set up a collaborator

To set up a collaborator, you need a Mercado Pago account. If you don’t have one yet, visit our homepage and click Create your account.

Next, the process must be completed in two steps: Create collaborator role and Set roles permissions. Follow the steps below.

You can customize each collaborator’s role and permissions, providing greater security and efficiency in team management. For example, when inviting someone to work as a cashier, you can grant only the permission to receive payments – without access to other account information.

Create collaborator role

Roles are permission groupings used to organize the tasks performed by each collaborator depending on the category, such as agency or freelance developer. To create a collaborator role, follow these steps:

Go to Mercado Pago Developers.
In the right sidebar menu, click Your account>Manage collaborators.

On this screen, click “Create role”.

Set role permissions

Permissions are authorizations granted to your collaborators to perform tasks such as implementing an integration or reviewing integration quality. To set them, follow the steps below:

Select the Mercado Pago option, which is where the collaborator will work.
When creating a role, there are two ways to set permissions:

Select permissions manually, choosing only those you want to grant to the collaborator.
Use our predefined profile suggestions:
- Mercado Pago Admin: full access to store information.
- Mercado Pago Cashier: access only to Payment and post-sale information.

You can manually add more roles to each of these profiles.

Integration Permissions

Once you’ve set the role permissions, you can also define access levels to the store’s integration through the “Management and configuration” section.

You must define at least one of these permissions if you want your collaborator to have access to your integrations.

Check the table to see what can be done at each permission level:

Once the role and permissions of the new collaborator are defined, click the “Create role” button to confirm your settings.

A confirmation screen will then appear.

Now, you can send an invitation to your collaborator.

Invite collaborator

After creating the role, simply click “Invite collaborator”. A new screen will open where you can enter the email of the person to be invited.

The invitation can only be sent to an email address that is not already registered with a Mercado Pago or Mercado Libre account.

To send an invitation later, go to the main screen and click “Invite collaborator”. After entering the guest’s email, a field will open where you can select the role you want to assign to the collaborator.

You can adjust the collaborator’s permissions and roles at any time. However, it’s important to note that the collaborator’s account is always linked to the account of the person who sent the invitation, meaning they cannot operate completely independently.
